Any meal at this Old City mainstay is a special occasion, but a recent brunch menu revamp introduced a heavy dose of luxe to their daytime dining game. Saturdays and Sundays see a menu of fresh seafood, locally grown farm fare and Champagne pouring alongside a soundtrack of live jazz.

Down in South Philly, brunch gets a Northern Euro-treatment at this beloved BYO. Omelets and french toast are on offer but the real stars of the show come in the form of sandwiches like smoked fish smorrebrod and a Suriname style hot chicken sandwich with pickled veg and eggs.

Getting your hand on stools at this tiny Reading Terminal luncheonette might require a bit of patience, but the homey breakfast fare served here is the kind of stuff that Lancaster County runs on. Grilled sticky buns and fried scrapple are A.M. musts.
Famous 4th Street Delicatessen
Black and white tile and borscht belt posters line the walls at this gleaming Jewish deli just south of South Street. Corned beef hash is borderline novelty sized, latkes are crisp and the smoked fish buffet is an exercise in appetizing.
