The Best Applesauce

Applesauce is a simple side dish, but there are items that can be added to it to make it more complex. No matter the type of apple you choose from the orchard, what spices and flavors you add can truly make a different applesauce. The color and flavor of the type of apple make the change depending on the type. Apples have a flavor including tartness, sweetness and acidity. Adding cider vinegar can create tartness and orange peel can pump up the acidity. Another common flavor used is cinnamon stick to create a spicy applesauce.
